Job One for New Legislature: Ban Donny Dancing

Minnesota local government leaders have a perennial beef with the Legislature about “unfunded mandates,” onerous requirements imposed on local governments by the state government.

But sometimes state mandates are very, very necessary.

Ladies and gentlemen of the State Legislature, I beg of you, for the good of all Minnesotans, for all that is good and right in the world, for THE CHILDREN, please ban city mayors like Duluth’s Don Ness from ever, ever, EVER, making another “dance” video like this…

“Hey, Sexy Donny!  Oops, oops, oops, oops, oops.  Donny’s Gangnam Style.”

Mayor Ness seems to be doing a fine job with his non-dancing duties, particularly leading Duluth in the wake of last summer’s devastating flood.  In light of that, impeachment probably isn’t necessary.  Still, this can’t be taken lightly.  As of this writing, over 15,000 people have been victimized by the DFLer’s assault on our eyes, and it must be stopped.

Duluth exports so many wonderful things to the world.  Taconite.  Lumber.  Duluth Trading Company Plumber’s Butt long-tailed t-shirts.  But Donny Ness’s stiff white guy rip-off of the most over-done dance video in the history of the world is one Duluth export that must be forever banned.

  1. Very disturbing indeed! However, Joe writes:

“Still, this can’t be taken lightly. As of this writing, over 15,000 people have been victimized by this assault on our eyes, and it must be stopped.”

Agreed but including the link in said story begs the questions: “How many more?” & “Isn’t the blog juggernaut Wry Wing Politics at least partially culpable for the now certain wave of victims that will stream from its most recent posting & the link itself?”

I applaud the effort to prioritize this important, and acceptable, local government mandate but also need to point out here that as laudable as the campaign is, the tactics may bring questions about the media’s responsibility in this. What responsibility do reporters and bloggers have to protect the public from being vicitimized? Is it “responsible journalism” to call attention to a public harm by exposing and victimizing untold tens or more innocent readers of Wry Wing Politics? The fact is the ‘hip and media saavy’ Mayor of Duluth wants this kind of attention, he wants to go viral and victimize as many as possible and by reposting this efforts you are giving him exactly what he wants. You are helping the Dance Terrorist(s) win.

  2. To be a little more serious, I’m almost always appreciative of that rare politician who doesn’t take himself too seriously. If Mayor Ness only delivered comic relief and not flood relief, that obviously would be a problem. But Ness delivers both, so bully for Donny.
